on my easel

i had the urge to start painting this guy the other day
and the only suited surface i could find was my easel backboard,
why not?!

this is the underpainting so far
(oil and charcoal on board)
i love the old marks showing through.
now where to from here...?

little trip

a delightful weekend away with my man,

unplugged,

all alone except for these two cheeky visitors,
a mongoose and a field mouse,

in the middle of nowhere.

deep breaths, a chunk of peace, so good to just be
and to reconnect with nature.

a new month

and it's May,
the 5th month already...

these are number 121 to 126,
the pile is getting pretty big already!

i'm not sure if i said yet that i've decided
to keep them all the same format now.
they are all 15 by 20cm on watercolor paper.

obsession

making marks, doodling, can't get enough.

i'm starting to understand that each mark
informs the next one, whether it's a doodle, a drawing, a painting.

each mark inspires another one and slowly builds my own style.

i haven't managed to finish the assignments but it has made me
look at doodling in a different light.
in a "practice makes progress" kind of light,
as long as i am a making marks i am learning
and i am developing a style.

walking

best way to start the week...

with the little rascal of course ;)

fuel for the soul

going with it...

last weekend at the workshop
i used up the leftover paints
doing this first draft (above)

i started with doing a little variation/imaginative
version of my pineapple lady.

this weekend i carried on working on her.
my aim was to  explore and experiment with new techniques

and she progressively took a life of her own.

not a pretty face... in fact she's rather scary/harsh

but i'm going with it, exploring where she takes me.

120/365

a cheeky last one for this month
and that's a wrap for April...
4 months already,
120 faces!!!

to the next 245,
thank you for the support,
couldn't do it without!
