day trip

i love that we can take a 90 minutes drive 

inland from our tropical coast and experience a completely 

different climate/season. 

last week we took a day trip into the late autumn, 

early winter landscape of the Kwazulu Natal Midlands.

a real treat for all the senses.

In the bag

bags of sand in Durban

somehow i found their shape so endearing, 

like huge pillows.

Outing

last friday 

we hired some beach cruisers 

and off we went exploring 

Durban's beachfront promenade...

moody skies, holiday makers, high-rises... 

a touch old fashion... 

such fun to be tourists in our own city for a day. 

Photography inspiration

yesterday i went to see 

the exhibition of 

photographer Roger Ballen

at the KZNSA

first i had a look at his latest work

called Playpen

and then i attended his guest lecture. 

both his photography and his talk were 

gripping, deep and dark.

i left moved, slightly disturbed and inspired.

Red Hot Chili Peppers'

concert last saturday 

was A-MAZING! 

And we got to experience the Calabash

once again.

the stadium is incredibly good looking and impressive! 

like a UFO landed in Soweto. 

90'000 people singing and dancing together...

powerful, beautiful madness! 

i love big happy crowds!

today we're off to Joburg 

to watch the Red Hot Chili Peppers

for the very first time in South Africa

we couldn't miss that!

Donna, Pascale and i went to Art in the Park 

in Pietermaritzburg. 

we missed 2 of our fellow artists though :(

the art, the trees, the friendship... 

everything was SO inspiring, 

real food for the soul! 

even the ground was irresistible!
