day trip

i love that we can take a 90 minutes drive
inland from our tropical coast and experience a completely
different climate/season.

last week we took a day trip into the late autumn,
early winter landscape of the Kwazulu Natal Midlands.

a real treat for all the senses.

before sunrise

i am loving using my real camera again,
there are moments a phone just can't capture.

 early morning misty walk.

treat

we went on a little trip to the country for a few days.

it was all a beautiful treat.

after our incredibly hot summer
it was extra special to get some cool and rainy weather.

i took these photos on a late afternoon walk,
dramatic sky before a thunderstorm.

can you spot the big cloud bird above, in flight?

garden wonder

the place we stayed at in Kaapsehoop
was magical.

Christo the owner has put so much heart into the garden
and all the little nooks, it was a delight to wander around and explore!

i was so mesmerised by all the details
(i believe love is in the details)
that i forgot to take photographs of people or horses!?!

well, real horses...

Seriously ;)

enchanted

i came back from my little break enchanted and refreshed.

i was craving being in nature and doing something different...
my wishes were granted ;)

it felt great to discover new horizons,
to meet fascinating people
and to be nudged a little.

we worked with horses, we connected, we met, we shared.
a lot happened in 3 days and i am still processing it all.

open

this is my gentle aim for this little break i am taking...

quote from here

perhaps i'll have fairy dust between my toes when i get back ;)

heaven...

this is my kind of heaven!!!

Liebermann Pottery in Johannesburg.

i absolutely LOVE this place,
and i start hyperventilating as we get there!

there are stacks of gorgeous, colourful pots,
chickens running around and dusty treasures...
right up my alley.

i could spend a whole day there and come home with a truck load of pots!

going away was really good.
Joburg is intense and beautiful, especially in spring and full of little gems like these.

this is my dream potting table and one day i will have a big messy one like that.

PS: we did come home with a boot load of pots...
how could we resist!

on the road...

we'll be on the road and off to the big city for a few days.

in the mean time i leave you with a peaceful view.
see you next week!

grounding

last week we went to the Drakensberg mountains for a few days.

i love living by the ocean but so much water and wind can
sometimes feel wishy washy and ungrounded.

so getting back into the mountains,
into the solidity of them
is both soothing and strengthening.

and of course it was my mister's birthday,
we got to celebrate, explore and connect
which made it even more special.

cruising

so we've just come back from a fun little trip to the Cape.
I had never been in Cape Town during winter and it was just as beautiful as ever...
cold, wet, sunny, rainy and... beautiful!

we went to  Ben Howard's amazing concert

and then we explored and ate delicious food...

 a real treat!

spoilt

this is where my mister took me last week for my
birthday

it was magical,
walks and picnic in the woods

and my 1faceaday "office"

a little piece of heaven...

today

it's my birthday today ;)
and i'm being swept away by my awesome husband,
surprise birthday trip!

i'll see you when i get back!
