go gently...

while doing my daily journaling
i am noticing that softness, gentleness
don't seem to come naturally to me.

especially not towards myself.

and yet i am discovering that the best way
for me to be, to keep moving, to find my feet,
is to go gently.

"return to softness again and again"
is becoming my new mantra.
my key to moving one small step at a time,
my key to hear the quiet whispers within.

crockery besotted

bowls and cups and vases and pears and lemons
and more bowls and...

oh and strawberries!

first steps

our first day of etching went so fabulously well!

there was a lot of learning,
preparing,
grasping a whole new concept.

the copper plates need to be filed,
buffed and polished.

here is  Roz, at the buffing machine,
fully into it:

and Maggie, sketching her warthog so she can
paint the white negative space in black...
a brain twisting exercise let me tell you:

the acid baths:

my first plate with a good old quirky design:

scratched and bathed

the acid eating through the plate

and a first test print

of course i loved every minute of it!

more next week...

learning

today i'm doing the etching course
i've been so eager to do for a while,
with some wonderful people...
so exciting!

here is some etching inspiration:

paint brushes by Jim Dine

let's see how we do!

on my easel

i'm still going with these paintings.

not sure where to from here with this one:

and i got brave with the tube,

well with the background rather.

i'm living with it for a few days
and i'll see how i feel...

superpower

remember my emerging collage Super Heroes
from earlier this week?

well here they are, done!

i played around with words and like them on these two:

-the Yes Super Hero

and -the Flower Power Super Hero

as for my Super Hero No8,

it was decided he was better without words.

they all have the Super Power to make me laugh every time i look at them!
i love them dearly ;)

i foresee many more coming soon...
