coming up for air...

shew...
managed to finish 6 of the 8 paintings on time.
i'm busy taking photo and sending them off to the gallery.

i've never worked so intensely with such a tight schedule before,
i'm not great at working under pressure but
it has been a great learning curve!

they will be part of a group exhibition at the Loading Bay Gallery in Durban.
a fantastic new gallery run by super talented artist Grace Kotze
i will show you more once they are out into the world!

heaven...

this is my kind of heaven!!!

Liebermann Pottery in Johannesburg.

i absolutely LOVE this place,
and i start hyperventilating as we get there!

there are stacks of gorgeous, colourful pots,
chickens running around and dusty treasures...
right up my alley.

i could spend a whole day there and come home with a truck load of pots!

going away was really good.
Joburg is intense and beautiful, especially in spring and full of little gems like these.

this is my dream potting table and one day i will have a big messy one like that.

PS: we did come home with a boot load of pots...
how could we resist!

little birds

on friday i picked up most of my paintings
from the framer.

i feel like a mama bird who has all her little ones back in her nest
one last time before she has to push them off the edge
and hope that they'll know how to fly!

final touches, naming, pricing this week...

i hope i will know how to fly!

a dream comes true...

the invitations have arrived,
tomorrow i'm taking all my work to the framer,
it is all starting to feel very real!!!

and i am so, so, so excited!!!

think tank

i've been doing a lot of thinking, processing and brainstorming
on this board lately...

and i'm not done yet.
i will probably use it as a background for one of my painting
and all those layers will be there,
informing and influencing the image painted on top.

and even though most of it might be hidden,
i hope the intention, emotions and energy will still be felt through the layers

i hope you have a beautiful, smiley day!

!!!

BIG news for me people!!!

i am beyond excited to have one of my BIG dreams come true this year...

i'm going to have my first solo exhibition!!!!

OH MY GOODNESS it feels so, SO BIG....

i am super mega thrilled AND nervous.

it will be towards the end of the year
so i have a few months to immerse myself
into building a body of work.

i need to buckle down, work, work, work, focus,
paint a lot, paint some more
and hopefully out of all that work something good will come out.

it's daunting, exciting, scary and fabulous...
deep trust... i am held ;)

here is the first painting i have done with the exhibition in mind

in progress

it may or may not make it but i think it's finished...
