happy days

today i treated myself to the most gorgeous flowers...
and tomorrow i'm embarking on a 3 day life drawing course!

after the storm

this was the ocean yesterday (tuesday) morning.
it was huge and wild and scary.
after months of drought we finally had rain, lots and lots of rain.

i am SO grateful for that rain.

like all things in life though, it came with its duality.
at first it was a gentle rain and then it turned into an intense and crazy
downpour causing some damages.
my heart goes out to the people who have been affected by it.

nature is spectacular and frightening...

thirsty

coming from the drought we've been experiencing
here is South Africa, i arrived in Switzerland feeling
like a thirsty bird ;)

i admired every swollen river and stream,
every forest felt so incredibly lush!

and i was there early enough for all the wild flowers...

such a treat...

close up

i still believe it, fiercely...
"love is in the details"

Gentianes et Anémones

little mountain miracles, after months under the snow nature sings in so many gifts.

i'm back

i'm back. i've been back for a little while...
but i wanted to dwell in my travelling/holiday vibes
for a little longer.

this is where i was,
in my mountains with my family...

they do still feel like my mountains.
so majestic and familiar.
i guess ones roots always remain, strong.

Nendaz, Switzerland

precious times with special people...
grateful!

morning wonder

i am busy packing,
off for a little holiday in Switzerland to spend some precious time
with my family.

to be honest, the packing is a little confusing,
it's suppose to be summer in the Northern Hemisphere
but it's been rainy and cold.

and here it feels like summer!?
go figure ;)

how magical do our aloes look?
this one in the pot is blooming for the first time,
happy and proud!

day trip

i love that we can take a 90 minutes drive
inland from our tropical coast and experience a completely
different climate/season.

last week we took a day trip into the late autumn,
early winter landscape of the Kwazulu Natal Midlands.

a real treat for all the senses.

random thoughts on a monday morning...

despite the fact that i have lived in the
southern hemisphere for nearly 15 years now,
the opposite seasons still confuses my brain...

possibly also because we don't have radical seasons changes
here on the Dolphin Coast but
i seem to constantly have to remind myself that, yes it is May
and no it is not spring, it is autumn.

to add to the confusion we can buy tulips here at the moment?

i'm not sure where they are from but when i saw these ones,
with the frayed edges...
i mean aren't they just too glorious? couldn't resist.

oh and because "winter" is coming this side of the planet,
i've started knitting a beanie ;)
i'm really good at starting knitting projects,
not sure if i ever finished one though.
let's this one be the one!

and i love the pink of the tulip and the pale green of the penny gum leaves together.

love is in the details

this flower... it is magical!
it just keeps on giving.

it is a  succulent called Orbea variegate or the star fish plant.
it is AH-MAZING, the colours, the way it found its way through that little hole
and the flowering from beginning to end is fascinating!

nature does it best!

even Pax is in love ;)

this time...

it is aloe time.
i love this time in the garden.
the aloes are all shooting flowers, they grow so fast.
they are not open yet but soon there will be orange bursts all over.

this beautiful world we live in...

i am in awe of this little flower finding her unique way
into this world...

just like all of us,
with bravery, courage and deep trust.

you can see the one flower above it,
slightly more advanced, about to open.
they are magical,  like little parcels opening into stars,
i will show you once they do.

nature just does it best!

after sunrise

my favourite time of day.

happy easter, joyeuses pâques beautiful people!

before sunrise

i am loving using my real camera again,
there are moments a phone just can't capture.

 early morning misty walk.
